The Dogstar Gallery represents a body of work by Matthew Saunders who has been painting since the 1980s. He worked within a vocational art program after high school and then went onto studying visual art at Bishop's University in Quebec. There he was heavily influenced by his primary painting instructor, Seymore Segal.
After completing an honours BA in Studio Art, Saunders continued to work on his craft and slowly shifted from working primarily on canvas to working heavily in non-traditional painting materials such as plexi-glass and concrete.
After a two year hiatus from 2007 to 2009, Saunders has begun painting again. His most recent work will be reflected here as it is completed.
